    Jon Fitch Suffers Knee Injury

    Former welterweight title challenger Jon Fitch (23-4-1) suffered a knee injury which has forced him to pull out of a scheduled UFC on Fuel 4 San Jose, CA, bout (July 11) against Aaron Simpson (11-3).


    Fitch is on the comeback trail after suffering a first-round knockout loss to Johny Hendericks (13-1) on December 30, 2011, at UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem.

    In a compelling welterweight showdown Martin Kampmann (20-5) stepped into the octagon against Jake Ellenberger (27-6) in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale (June 1, 2012) from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    In round one, Kampmann survived a rough start. Ellenberger dropped Kampmann in the first minute of the bout and appeared to hurt him on several other occasions. In round two, Ellenberger badly bloodied Kampmann’s nose but that did not discourage him as he displayed world class resiliency.

    Hard-hitting junior middleweight contender James Kirkland has decided to pull out of a September 15 showdown with WBC 154-pound champion Saul Alvarez.

    Kirkland claims that he has not fully recovered from a shoulder surgery he underwent in March.


    Kirkland had agreed to the matchup. However, after tweaking his shoulder during a Thursday evening training session, he felt it would not be 100% come fight night.

    LAS VEGAS (AP) - Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is about begin a three-month jail sentence in Las Vegas in a domestic violence case.

    The undefeated boxer's legal and ring advisers weren't immediately commenting Thursday about Mayweather's scheduled Friday morning surrender in court.
