It looks like Maidana and Alexander are planning a move up to 147 where their first fight will be against each other. The exact date isn't known yet.
What do you guys think about this bout?
Will Alexander finally win a fight against a good fighter convincingly?
Will Maidana end up treating Alexander like an overrated contender?

I could have sworn I had made a thread about this already but since you want to steal my thunder
I will repeat what I said in my thread...Maidana makes him quit on his stool after 10 rounds (I think it was 10 I said) point being he will bully and torement him and that will be all...CHINO!!!

I don't mind this fight I think it's a good first fight for each other at 147. This is the type of fight that should be on Boxing After Dark or an undercard on a PPV though. I think I'd favor Maidana to stop Alexander. I don't think either has a size advantage at 147 since they are both moving up. I think Maidana is obviously the bigger puncher and might carry his pop up. Will be a good warm-up for Maidana before the inevitable Ortiz rematch.

This card is but a week away.
Adrien Broner vs. Eloy Perez is the supporting bout.
Official predictions?

Too bad this is only a 10 rounder. Maidana might need those extra two rounds to put away Alexander if he gets a lead.

Alexander has been so inconsistent since he broke into the scene. I'd only be surprised if he were to blast Maidana early.
Solid lean DA's way (decision) considering I've had him losing the last two fights in his hometown yet he still came out on top.

Judging from what we saw in the Cloud/Campillo fight last weekend, Maidana will have his hands full tonight, maybe not as much against Alexander as he will against Don King, St Louis, and the judges. My friend and coworker made a friendly wager with me a couple days ago that Maidana will "whoop that ass." Maidana is going to have to KO Alexander just to get a draw! Alexander has never been down. When Maidana hurt Khan in the 10th round of their 2010 FOTY, he was unable to finish him off. Therefore, Maidana either has to KO Alexander or win at least 9-1 with a KD or two to have a chance of winning a decision. This is also only a 10 round fight, not 12 rounds. That doesn't mean this won't be a good fight.
Predictions:
Broner by KO.
Alexander by controversial SD.The kid is back!

Not that it mattered but Alexander was dropped by Mathysse. Alexander has lost his last 3 fights conclusively IMO.

I was routing for Perez but the size difference was startling and standing in front ofas a target did not help. Good knockout by Broner but again with the size difference once they got started and Perez letting himself be a target while Bronner completely covered up meant trouble from the beginning. Ringo

Alexander finally wins a fight convincingly. I felt the bout was a lot closer at the midpoint than HBO let on. Maidana was uninspiring in the later rounds and that was the difference. I'd like to see Alexander vs. the Berto/Ortiz winner or Mike Jones. Maidana/Matthysse sounds good to me.

It was close to me through round four and I would not call that a knockdown but it was a clear overwhelming win after ten. With less holding, lets see how Alexander does next time. Ringo

I hate to say i was impressed by Broner but I was. I heard alot of hype about Perez (call it west coast bias) but he looked very sharp, powerful and most importantly fast. He could be a man to reckon with for awhile at 130.
Alexander proved 147 is where he belonged. Maidana i'm sure will make weight excuses but he was outclassed. 147 just got more interesting.

I'm still not that impressed with Broner considering 130 is weak and Perez was untested at this point. Broner should move up to 135 and seek bigger fights or rematch De Leon to clear up the controversy.

I just got a good laugh out of this.
