According to several sources, 2012 will be Marquez's last year in boxing.
He will face off against relatively unknown Cesar Rene Cuenca (42-0, 1 KO) on April 21, in Mexico City. The bout may end up as a championship clash for the WBO junior welterweight title, assuming Bradley plans to permanently move to welterweight.
After that, he will have two more bouts before he rides off into the sunset. He would like to face Pacquiao one last time, but if the fight doesn't come off this year, he claims that will cap their series.
Whom would you like to see him face in those last two bouts?

Two more fights and he's wasting one on this guy? Great management.

He wants to fight in his hometown one more time before calling it quits. He hasn't fought in DF in nearly 17 years.
At the moment, who is there to fight that isn't already tied up? Considering his level of opposition the last few years, he's entitled to a bout like this one. This bout isn't about money anyways. It's a farewell fight in Mexico before his friends and family.
How can anyone criticize him when at the age of 38-39, he will likely end his career against the likes of Rios, Morales, Peterson, Bradley, or Pacquiao? Not many fighters have retired at nearly 40 years of age while still fighting at the top level.

42-0 with 1 KO might be the oddest record I've ever seen.

I'm glad JMM is going to be fighting at 140. I was worried he'd try to cut back to 135 after putting on all that muscle for Pacquiao. A weight cut like that at his age could ruin him.

It'll take a couple of years for Marquez to have three fights.

He really made Pacman look human. That last one could of went either way. I was suprised that it went to Pacman. I think they were hoping for a Pacman, Mayweather match up.

Cuenca has been televised on TyC at least 21 times. He's very good and I don't think he's ever come close to losing.
I'm not predicting an upset here, but it will not be a miracle if Cuenca goes Raheem/Morales on JMM and wins.
Sometimes the low KO guys get ran over when they step up, but I think Cuenca will hang.

marquez vs morales makes the most sense financially for both men. if morales can somehow make it past garcia. Id skip that fight if i were morales' management.

lol! Fuck I hope not. As much as I appreciate Marquez, I see the makings of a boring fight with Cuenco, he dances around and flicks meaningless jabs and JMM is a counterpuncher. I guess it might be interesting from a sweet science point of view. I wouldn't mind seeing Marquez fighting Rios and Morales before he hangs them up.

I wonder if this Cesar Cuenca guy is related to all time great Mexican comedian Enrique Cuenca, I think Cuenca here seen as Ruben "puas" Olivares would have given JMM a better fight. lol
Los Polivoces - El Puas y el Molacho.mpg - YouTubeColombian or Puerto Rican women? YUUUUUKKKK I liked bubba better.
