Guillermo Rigondeaux defeats Rico Ramos via a 6th round ko, a beautiful left to the body ramos could not recover from, rigondeaux was in control the whole fight after dropping ramos with a left hook to the head in round 1, ramos never fully recovered. I think Rigondeaux is a star, can and will beat doniare this year, i see huge bright things for him in the next few years.

- January 21st, 2012, 03:06 AM #3
Sure did, he had ramos in the corner hurt and covering up high and hit him with a mean left to the body which ramos couldnt get up from.

Ramos should have just turned the title over at the weigh in. Horrible "effort".

Ramos was scared after he got hurt in the first round. Rigondeaux was just MUCH better.

That fine jewish gentleman from harvard university will not allow rigondeaux in the ring with donaire
- January 22nd, 2012, 10:51 PM #11
Yeah maybe not, but maybe Rigondeaux and Donaire will have more balls than pac and stand up to him and say we want the fight your making the fight.

sure rigondeaux will want it. however, it is not a money fight for donaire. just a dangerous one

It is a money fight for donaire, who else is there besides rigondeaux and abner mares that can bring in the big money for donaire?

I was glad to see Rigondeaux win. Ramos got the title on a lucky punch you could tell once the bell rang he had no business in there with Rigondeaux. I too would like to see him take on Donaire if/when he gets past Vasquez jr.

Nonito Donaire Doesn't Want to Fight Guillermo Rigondeaux - Bad Left Hook
- January 25th, 2012, 09:21 AM #16
Rigondeaux will probably have to face all the fighters Arum doesn't want Nonito to face. It won't shock me if he has to face Nishioka first.

Doniare sounds very scared of rigondeaux imo, he trys to compare him to narveez as a boring fighter and thats why he doesnt want to fight him, thats a joke narveez is 36 not 31 his a naturall 112 lb and even then wasnt very powerfull or big and is much smaller than Rigondeaux.

I'm tired of boxers all of a sudden becoming such boxing businessmen. I know boxing is a business and you want to make money but shit at least act like you want to fight the best in your division. As a fan I couldn't care less about how much money each fighter makes. Just fucking fight!

I've lost some respect for Donaire for not being willing to fight Rigondeaux.
When a fighter AVOIDS another quality fighter, it should be taken into consideration when assessing their greatness. It should be noted, for example, that Whitaker, as great as he was, during his tenure at welterweight, never fought Quartey, JL Lopez, at lighter weights, never faced Meldrick Taylor, Camacho, Rosario, chose not to take on Terry Norris to get his 154 lb. title.
Just thought I'd throw that in!

I missed that part of the article. I stand corrected on that point. I was wrong to say that about Donaire, I thought he just didn't want to fight Rigondeaux, but missed the part about him fighting Gamboa instead. Fuck. I'd much rather see him fight Gamboa, that would be a badass fight.

“And as much as people say, ‘Oh, you’re running away,’ if I’m running away, [and] if you want a Cuban that wants to fight me, then let’s have [Yuriorkis] Gamboa,” Donaire said. “I think that’s an interesting fight. Don’t give me something that’s going to be boring for boxing. If you want a good fight, let’s get Gamboa, you know what I’m saying?”
