The finals of the supermiddleweight tournament will be in Atlantic City on Saturday December 17. I'm not a fan of Ward particularly and Froch has grit and comes to fight but in the end I have to pick Ward. Who do you like? Ringo

Ward by an ugly decision.

Ward in a ZZZZZZZ match, around 117-111 and 116-112 (twice) in a UD. I think this fight, at least on paper, is easy to call.

Do bears shit in the woods?
Ward by decision.
I like Froch...tough SOB...but he will have a hard time landing cleanly on Ward.

My final prediction is Ward via decision. Froch is tough but chances are that he won't land the homerun punch tonight.

Picked Ward to cleanly sweep the tournament when it was announced and am still standing by my pick.

I kinda liked the tournement format, but i feel that it's a bit fucked up that Ward was allowed to fight all his fights at home, while all the others travelled atleast once - Should have been the same for evryone.
All signs points to a Ward win: Froch looked awful against Johnson, Ward is faster and more skilled. Still i think Froch will be extremely motivated, and I think he could provide an upset, wether he will get a decision is a completely different matter.
Calling it a draw.Romans 13:1-2 - Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

After 2. I have Ward ahead 2-0. Ward landing his left hook.

Froch isn't really making things easy for himself, did they have any kind of gameplan for this?

After 7 Froch maybe won the 3rd round. Froch throwing very wide punches. Ward is on target.
- December 17th, 2011, 07:15 PM #14
I thought he won the 3rd aswell, if your kind you could go even in round 1 aswell. It beats me why Froch insists on standing so sideways, there's not a hope in hell for his right hand to land with any sort of consistancy

Don't get me wrong...I like Froch a lot...he's my kinda fighter...I rooted for him throughout the tournament...but style makes fights...and Froch is just too slow for Ward...it was very obvious. Plus Froch was winging his punches tonight....Ward was also out muscling him...that's one aspect that did surprised me...Ward just looked the stronger of the two.

The judges scorecards don't do Froch any justice. There was a clear winner tonight but I had Ward winning by a closer margin. I think Froch tried to make it a fight but got out boxed by a more technically sound fighter. Ward just landed that counter left all night and in the later rounds he even started landing his right cross. I thought Steve Smoger did a fine job at not interfering with the action. There was times when there was a little clinching going on and he just let them fight their way out of it. Overall it was a clean fight devoid of any controversy... but I'm not exactly looking forward to the rematch. Good win for Ward!

Got back 4 hours ago..all nighter..lol..Brits are cool folks...I was in row 7 and I was for Froch going in but Andre quickly turned my head around putiing ona boxing clicic. Fast left hand scored at will, he crowded Froch to keep Froch from getting punching distance, he then would step back and pop him often. He evaded punches with his movement. The full package but not too much power. Froch on the other hand takes a punch. I had it like the Brit judge118-110. It was a shut out for the first nine rounds to me although round 5 was close. I came in not expecting much but actually had a good time watching Ward do his thing. Ringo

Good win by Ward. Froch was game late as Ward tired, but he won no more than 2-3 rounds, maybe 4 if one is completely generous towards him.
After last night's performance, I now have Ward at #8 on my list. Some people have him in their top 5, top 3, based off this win, which I think is ridiculous. He's beaten some decent fighters at 168, but he's yet to completely clean out the division (Bute, Dirrell), most of the styles he's fought have been tailor-made for him, he hasn't fought a big fight outside his own backyard, and he's never had multi-weight success (not necessarily a requisite but it certainly boosts one's case) like many of the others in my top 10.

I'd still rate Donaire higher.
Donaire - Best wins: Vic Darchinyan, Hernan Marquez, Fernando Montiel, Omar Narvaez. Pluses: Multi-weight success from 112-118.
Ward - Best wins: Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Carl Froch.
To some, Ward may look more skilled with his little sly bag of tricks, but his quality of opposition doesn't stack up nor has he had Donaire's multi-weight success.

You are on drugs.
First of all...take that multi-weight shit outta the equation...that's not a gauge to make someone greater than one that sticks to just one weight...case in point...Marvin Hagler...he was a middleweight throughout his career...and he finished up as a middleweight.
Ward's quality of opposition doesn't stuck up to Donaire's? Are you smoking weed right now?
Ward just won the super six for Christ's sakes...he beat the best of the best amongst that division.
Donaire, don't get me wrong, he's a solid fighter...but the guy is beating up on smaller opponents now...the guy looks like a giant now, lol.
The icing on the cake of course will be when Ward easily outboxes Bute...mark down that as another win for my fellow Oaktown homeboy...
