Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit UFC rematch set, says Dana White - ESPN

Just several days after defeating Nick Diaz in a UFC welterweight interim title bout, Carlos Condit has agreed to a rematch, promotion president Dana White said late Tuesday night.
"The rumor is true," White said via Twitter. "Carlos did accept the fight today."
Condit defeated Diaz by unanimous decision Saturday night at UFC 143 in Las Vegas. He used solid footwork and head movement to elude Diaz's pressure attack, while delivering counter-strikes to impress the judges.
After the scores were read, Diaz expressed disappointment with the judges' scorecards (48-47, 49-46 and 49-46) by vowing never to compete in mixed martial arts again.
"I'm not going to accept the fact that this was a loss," Diaz said. "I pushed him back the whole fight. I took him down. I think I'm done with this MMA. It's been a good time.
"I don't need this. I pushed this guy the whole fight. I landed the harder punches. He kicked me a few times."
Diaz (26-8, one no contest) wasn't the only fighter disappointed by the outcome.
Current UFC 170-pound titleholder Georges St. Pierre expressed his desire to fight Diaz and wanted him to come away victorious. St. Pierre was slated to face the Diaz-Condit winner in a unification bout later this year.
Diaz, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion, has been verbally taunting St. Pierre for months. The two were scheduled to meet in Saturday night's main event, but St. Pierre suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in December and pulled out of the fight.
St. Pierre expects to resume full training in July. He has targeted November for his return to action.
Condit (28-5) was originally scheduled to fight St. Pierre, but agreed to step aside for Diaz. That goodwill gesture did not prevent fans from criticizing Condit after the fight at Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Many mixed martial arts fans expressed their disagreement with the result, booing Condit during his postfight interview inside the Octagon.
UFC has not yet set a date or location for the Condit-Diaz rematch.

Props to Condit for accepting an immediate rematch even though he didn't have to. It's quite apparent he's confident enough in his skills to know that he can take Diaz again. Hopefully Diaz doesn't get a gift decision in the rematch. Either way, GSP is going to end up fighting these two at some point.

What's funny that all the so called "MMA" experts on this forum claim that I don't know anything about MMA because they I had diaz winning the fight. Heck Condit is not even sure. That's why he agreed to the rematch. I felt diaz was robbed. And for the record I'm not a fan. I enjoyed his action packed fights but his sportsmanship sucks. By the looks of things many people agree with me that Diaz won. Even Dana white feels a rematch is necessary.

On a side note, this is what I love about the UFC the most. Fights aren't just talked about, they're made in a heartbeat. Mayweather/Pac fiascos don't take place in the UFC.

The guy was booed after the decision. If you were booed after a fight that was considered a robbery wouldn't you want a re-match to shut the naysayers up? He wants to set the record straight. If it was such a clear victory why even do a rematch. Personally I don't think it will be a good fight. Condit will just run for 5 rounds again.

LMAO Diaz is a bitch when Condit spent the whole fight running? LOL
I am no Diaz fan but, the dude is no bitch. Hell, I even scored it 3-2 for Diaz but, can't call it a robbery like some people have claimed.
Condit fought a scared tactical fight from rounds 3-5 and only won because Diaz was an idiot who just walked around stalking not doing shit.A Real QB...

The fight was close, but Condit clearly won. It's that simple.
And Condit agreeing to a rematch has absolutely nothing at all to do with him not being sure he won. That's probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen posted in this MMA section since I joined up here. Condit is fighting Diaz again because he doesn't want to wait around until November for GSP. And you're right, it may not be a good fight, unless Diaz really ups his game and learns how to fight a non-stationary target. The way he clumsily followed Condit around the cage, unable to cut him off while eating leg kicks the whole time, that was pretty embarrassing.
In a rematch, I see Diaz getting outclassed by the better fighter, just like he did in the first fight.

Diaz, for as brave of a fighter as he is in the cage, is just as big of a baby outside of it. He cries and complains about everything. He's gotta be the biggest crybaby in MMA.

So much for the rematch being set. ESPN's McNeil confirmed that today Cesar Gracie told MMAJunkie.Com that there will be no immediate rematch.

I thought it was a great fight. Seeing one fighter totally outclass another fighter the way Condit did to Diaz was a work of art. Watching Diaz clumsily follow Condit around the cage, eating kick after kick without being able to mount any offense himself, getting visibly frustrated with each passing minute that he was taken out of his game....I found it extremely entertaining.
Credit to Condit for not wanting to wait around for GSP. That shows a true warrior spirit. I guess Diaz would rather suck his thumb and sulk about the mean judges who don't score points for taunting rather then actually try to improve his skills, learn to adapt and take the opportunity to redeem himself. What a crybaby!

Now the rumor going around is Diaz had to back out of a Condit rematch because he failed his post fight drug test.
If that's true, he's an even bigger idiot than he is a crybaby.

I keep hearing it's pot.
And it absolutely is a big deal. Whether pot is performance enhancing or not is irrelevant. He knows the rules regarding pot, he's failed a drug test for pot before, and he's pulled out of a fight before in the past rather than take a drug test.
Here's a guy who cries about everything, and finally gets handed an opportunity to be a PPV headliner in the UFC and make big money after toiling in the minor leagues for the past few years, and he can't pass a simple drug test that he absolutely knows he has to pass.
The guy is an idiot, plain and simple.

Nick Diaz's drug test for UFC 143 returns positive for marijuana - MMAmania.com
Where there's smoke, there's fire -- and there's also Nick Diaz, toking up.
Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Executive Director Keith Kizer today confirmed that Diaz failed his UFC 143 drug test for "marijuana metabolites" following the "Diaz vs. Condit" pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (Feb. 4, 2012) in Las Vegas.
Also screened for performance enhancing drugs, as well as drugs of abuse, were Carlos Condit, Fabricio Werdum, Josh Koscheck, Renan Barao, Ed Herman, Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, Matt Riddle, Henry Martinez, Edwin Figueroa, Alex Caceres, Matt Brown, Chris Cope, Rafael Natal, Michael Kuiper, Stephen Thompson and Dan Stittgen.
Those fighters all passed with flying colors.
For Diaz, this marks the second time he's been popped for marijuana in Nevada, having tested positive following his win over Takanori Gomi back in Feb. 2007.
Star-divide
This result mars an event that was already crawling in controversy, thanks to the controversial main event bout going to a five-round decision finish that few were satisfied with.
In fact, Diaz retired in disgust after the bout, proclaiming his dislike for the scoring system in place in MMA. His team, led by Cesar Gracie, immediately started campaigning for a rematch, so that didn't last long, of course.
He'll now be faced with a mandatory vacation imposed by the NSAC; however, Diaz still has opportunity to appeal the commission's results.
After all the insanity surrounding Diaz since he signed a contract with the UFC, from his removal from the UFC 137 main event for missing press conferences all the way up to this drug test failure, one has to wonder if Diaz is worth the headache he's surely given Dana White.
Then again, UFC 143 drew a better than expected 400,000 buys on pay-per-view.
What a dumbass.
If you're that addicted to pot, find a job where you don't have to drug test.
